I'd like to have someone out there who collects tokens made of copper base from the US (CWTs, Hard Times tokens, etc) write a good 100-500 word article on their collection. Any one interested should contact me. Your article will appear on the front page of the site along with any photos we can work together to come up with.
It will also be archived permanently on the site for future readers.

I found a place using tokens that were the nicest I've found so far. This inspired me to make an image of a few I have collected in the past plus the great one I picked up yesterday. Seems like tokens were used a lot in the past. As advertisment for a business, after the Civil War all coinage was hoarded thus the need for the 2-3 Cent pieces as change was just not there to be used. I saw once on the internet a 1 Cent stamp encased and used for money. But today we find tokens everywhere. Transit tokens, Gaming tokens, Car wash tokens I even have one that a company that used to cash checks would give out as the last 25 Cents of the check cashed to inspire business for that business. I've got a lot more, but especially wanted to share the first one as it is truely what tokens of the future should be. A work of art! I have one from an establishedment that no longer exists. Even the building was torn down. When I find it I will include the token and the image of what the building looked like. (later)
