I recently sold an item on Ebay and was paid thru PayPal. This is the initial notice I received. I subsequently received another notice stating the buyer, who PayPal stated had a confirmed address, was a fraudster. I will never accept an eCheck again. I also wanted to give everyone the name and email being used in case it is used again in a transaction you might be involved in.
This was from PayPal:
Dear John ,
This email confirms that you have received a Pending eCheck Instant Purchase Payment for $55.04 USD from Thomas J Concannon (sue1040_4@msn.com).
This eCheck Payment will remain "Uncleared" until the funds have cleared from the sender's account, which usually takes 4 business days. If you are shipping an item, please do not ship your item until the funds have cleared into your PayPal account. You will be notified by email when the funds have cleared into your PayPal balance.
I did get that subsequent notice and shipped the item. 4 days later PayPal reversed the payment and has refused to refund my money because my shipping documents did not have a signature from the recipient.

Is part of the shipping requirements that the item be signed for??
If PaPal notified you the check cleared first, did they tell you why they reversed their decision.
It seems like you have some rights here. I am very curious about this. Keep us informed on any progress.

I found a PayPal customer service # and was able to get this resolved. The original response I received that my claim was refused since I did not get a signed receipt was an error. It turns out I inverted one of the numbers from my tracking slip # and they could not verify the delivery. Since they gave me the wrong reason for rejecting the claim I did not know that was the problem. Once they were able to verify the shipment they agreed to make me whole. Sometimes email is not very efficient. One phone call resolved what 8 emails could not.

I am glad you managed to get the problem resolved. It sounded like they were trying to do things that were completely below the standards they should have had in place.
