1964-D Lincoln cent; DDR

Okay people, this one just came under my scope today and I am not to sure if it has been previously listed. Do know that it is not on coppercoins ans from the CONECA listings, I am not to sure. It is strong enough to be listed in the Cherrypicker's guide, but it is not. See what you think.

















I am sure that you can see all the notching so that is why I did not have arrows pointing to it, plus there would be just to many arrows. Also, there is notching on the top right cornice edge and on all the left top serifs in EPU.

If anyone of you have seen this die, please let me know. Thanks.

Beautiful example of a strong Doubled Die. I'd be inclined to call it a Class 1, but it may be a class 5. Truly an excellent find BJ. I really like it when a coin like that just 'comes under your scope'

Hi BJ,

Looks like it could be the one listed in John Wexlers old book "The Lincoln Cent Double Die" as 1964-D 1-R-V on page 135. It only shows "ATES" of states in the pic in the book but it has strong nothching and the double tail on the lower curve of S.

With a lot of searching and some poor photos I think I came up with one of those. Looks to be in a lot worse shape and a later die stage but showing the knotching all over.
