While going through a 1956D roll I purchased some time ago I ran into a couple of minor RPMs, nothing much, but the last coin in the roll caught my eye...this is a testament to searching EVERY COIN in the roll, no matter how boring the task gets!

I spent probably all of ten minutes on the roll, pulling this one doubled eyelid die and another that had a minor RPM...a typical day's work. I almost bundled the roll back up and set it aside after going through about 40 coins, but because I needed a couple more of the doubled eyelid for trade bait I kept looking.

The last coin in the roll - coin #50 - was the earliest die state, nicest example I had ever seen of 1956D-1OM-001. That's the one with the S between the 1 and 9 of the date. REALLY nice stuff!! I was so excited I ran in to tell my wife, who was asleep on the couch. I didn't bother, I knew she'd care about as much as I care about the sales at the mall.

I went back in to the microscope and spent the next 30 minutes carefully studying my find - the butterflies of finally beating the chase to a good coin were there. I was elated!!

I came by.... as I promised I would. I promise not to be a stranger!

Doing some nice early copper coin purchases! Obtained an 1837 large cent a few months ago. Cost me dearly.

Thanks for the site.

Nice find Chuck!
I came to drop by and to see how things were going, and it looks like everything is great. But I will miss the old board, but thats now in the past. Im right now at PR and will try to come to this board regularly for the time I am here, but when I return to home, I will be browsing this board every day! Very Happy No new finds in varieties, but got some rolls waiting for me at home when I go back to look at. All are 1961-D of course Cool Im happy to see new faces and old ones too.

Congrats on the board Chuck and talk to you later.

Nice to see you drop in Gabe. I believe all the regs are back - here, now...and yes, the new faces - gotta love seeing the new faces!

Check in as often as you can. I believe the benefits to this style of board far outweigh the benefits of the old chat board.

- categorized topics.
- more participation.
- doesn't crash.
- no time limit on posts.
- read back to the beginning, not just 200 posts.
- requires specific login to post.
- can use photos, link to the web, etc.
- picture avatar to identify you.
- posting statistics on each user.
- and you can use smilies! Very Happy Mr. Green

I still miss the old chat board and the one on one interaction. I also miss all the photos Coop put up. Has Coop signed on lately?

Coop hasn't signed on here and posted since the board was put into place two weeks ago - he signed up after the first weekend, but hasn't said anything.

As for a one-on-one chat, that will come with some time, but the old chat board is gone. I'm not going to try supporting it any more.

I can certainly understand the reluctance of doing away with the old coppercoins chat Garry. We had some great conversations in there. I believe that as time goes on, we will come up with a suitable substitution for it. There's nothing like the one-on-one interaction we had there, but this forum has also proven to be a nice alternative. You can post your replies at any time, and they can be read by all, or made private if you wish. It's still great to see you in here Garry, and that is what matters most.

What I find a bit frustrating about this board is that I have to wait some time before getting a response, and the interaction with one another is not the same. I have enjoyed message boards a lot, but there is nothing like one-to-one interaction.

True Gabe. As I stated before, I am sure we will have a real time chat sometime soon. Chuck is taking everyone's concerns into consideration, and as time permits, he will make the changes. Right now, there are many other important aspects of bringing coppercoins.com up to full usability. You will all see the changes soon, most likely starting with the new Home Page Chuck is developing, and then continuing with the on-line store. Please try to understand that these things take time, and there are also many unforseen circumstances that can easily push back the anticipated start date of any of these endeavors. I too look forward to a real-time chat as I did enjoy the interaction. We'll be back there soon.

Thanks for the kind words, Bob, one of the challenges of using this style board is remembering which chat I put my comments in!! aaaahhhhh

Me too...So don't feel like the lone ranger. I just have it set up so that if anyone replies to a post, I will read it and reply if necessary. Just hang in there...OK?

What do you guys think about this? I mean the picture not the variety. I took the picture with a kids microscope that works pretty well for coins and it is for under $50.

The coin is a Mexican cinco centavos coin dated 1972 and it has a doubled die observe (the side with the eagle). The ddo is evident in the picture.
