has anyone seen this before? the Obverse is clean and as it should be and the Reverse is smashed but not like with a hammer or anything like that. my thought would be that if the coin was struck with an object after leaving the mint the would be a trace of it on the coin and the other side would also be damaged or at least altered but on this coin it is not. the rev looks like a proof (only the smashed part) and the Obverse is totally unaltered at all. now the question is this grease or damage? it is not die damage. it is a 2005 D and appears Uncirculated but I got it out of a circulated box.

thanks for your thoughts and help and MERRY CHRISTMAS _________________ Gary L Cox Sr
