Hello everyone and good evening. i found a 1969 S cent tonite with what looks like doubling on both the MM and the Date i know that MD had a shelf like appearance and a DD or RPM would be more rounded. my question is this. is it possible for a MD to also be rounded or is the strictly an RPM or DD? as you can see only the 9 has any sign of doubling
here is the coin in question and thanks for your time and thoughts

It's strike doubled, often the strike doubling only shows on certain places like here it was mostly on the 9 and mintmark.
The direction of the doubling on the date and the mintmark are in the same direction. Just like the 70-S posted before this one was. Almost any time it's on the mintmark and anything else in the same direction it's strike doubling.
On the 9 the metal from the 9 gets thin at the top exactly where the lower image is smashed from it.
The doubling is flat and shelflike. _________________ Ed
The Center image illustrates it best. Image striking the coin, then sliding the image ajusting the strike. that is what you see on machine doubling. Also note on a real doubled die, the letters/numbers are always enlarged. On this one the letters/numbers are the same size with the shelf next to it. On a doubled die that letter/number would be larger. Even RPMs the letters are larger as the multiple punchings spread the mintmark in size or even adding separation to the mintmark. Machine doubling keeps the same size and add a shelf to the devise. Keep looking Gary. They are out there.
