IN GOD WE TRUST

I have a 1959-d cent in the words IN GOD WE TRUST, the "E in we and the "T in trust is considerabley lower then the others letters can you please tell me what this is called and why it is like this ?

Bruce: One thing that could of happened is that the die was grease filled and wouldn't let the letters fill that area. That happens a lot on the reverse near the STATES and EPU area. But here is an example of a OBV one.

Are the letters wider? Sometimes I see that also. But it could also be die wear in the fields. The depth of the die is removed during cleanings. You see this a lot on 80's Dies. The scratching takes so much of the field that the letters look shorter. It even looks like the die is bending on the outside edge.

The letters I have are very clear they just sit down lower but they are very clear and normal size. Sorry I do not have a camera but I am working on getting one.

Look at it this way in your first picture see where the "W" in we is well mine is in the same place however the "E" is lower to the hair line on Lincoln head considerabley lower both letters just as clear as yours but the "E" is lower.
