Is there a web site I can go to for a price list of bu pennies? I'm going to a coin show Saturday and would like to have an idea of what to expect to pay. Thanks.

My advice is to get the redbook and take it with you to the coin show.

Pricing for BU cents tends to be very subjective Mike. I think Darrell has a good idea that at least puts you in the ballpark. In my estimation, the Redbook prices seem to run a little high though.

Be careful of buying anything from the teens or 20s! If they're unc many are re-colored or whizzed and tricky to spot them.

Many supposed uncs I see raw at shows are re-colored. If you can't tell what re-colored or whizzed ones look like be very careful. Be leary if the seller says something like "most old coins might have been cleaned but it's still unc" or "it looks unc to me" because if you try selling them they get XF-AU prices.

Re-colored ones can be red or have a little toning, they often look nice but lack some sharpness in the details. They're often made by stripping the surface with chemicals.

Whizzed ones also can be red or have a little toning and look nice but if you look close you see very small patterns of the whizzing. Sometimes they have cartwheel and look "to good to be true" They're made by spinning a very fine brush on the surface.

I just wanted to say thinks to all that gave me suggestions about the coin prices. I went to the show and got a big surprise, only two tables had pennies and I only got one roll I needed. The dealer said there is no money in pennies. I buy 6 lbs. of wheats and 6 other rolls. I did find a 1956d rpm, (the one with about 250,000 made) the 1956 rolls I bought have a very nice toning to them (I love when they tone like that). Maybe the show in Baltimore will be better later this year.

I found it interesting the dealer said there is no money in pennies. they seem to sell for prices on Ebay that are way too high. Based on the markup per coin they probably are not as valuable and for a dealer to lug around pennies for a show is probably a waste of time.

A penny saved is a penny earned. A penny bought on Ebay is 10-15 cents thrown away.

I usually buy my coin's using the Grey Sheet. It's a "Bible" for Coin dealer's. I'm not a dealer but I do like to know both side's when it comes to buying. There is a Bid price to buy, a Ask price to sell. Generally on ebay the only way to get what you want is to buy in quantity's then the price is generally 50 to 75 cents above the Bid price. That is my perception when buying BU roll's.

I just wish I could find less then most of the auctions that go for $200+ or so which knocks me out or the ones that want to sell 50 rolls of the same item.

I know there are a few sellers that sell dutch auction style at 8.10 flat shipping the 1 that come to mind is luversol. I know there are a few more that sell up to 150 rolls for 11 dollars shi. I try to buy only lots of 50 rolls or more and get alot for 70 bucks or less. Of course i have paid more also if its a hard to come by date. Out of all the bu rolls i have i think 88p, 91d, 97d are among the hardest to come by. Also a good price source is cdn publications

I have bought from luvorsol before. He does ship quantities of roll's at a flat rate, he also, I noticed that he doesn't combine shipping on some of his sales. I would recommend him if the price is right.
