You might notice that we have fewer than 500 images remaining to hit the 10K milestone. Bob has done most of the work on this over the last six months to a year, but I finally stepped up to the plate and added almost a hundred images yesterday. I plan to continue in this fashion until after we surpass the goal, but wanted to do something special once we hit the goal.

Here's the deal...we will be producing a poster commemorating the event when it gets here, but this will be no normal poster. This poster will be special - very special. Anyhow, we will be producing quite a number of them, but will take the first 100 and sign them, Bob and I. This will be the limited edition group that will not be "redone". The remainder of the posters (another 900 in all) will bear no signatures.

Okay, so here's what I've come up with to do. I would like to conduct a contest to see who can come the closest to the exact date and time we go over 10,000 images on the site. The winner of this will receive one of the signed posters on us...as a prize. My problem...if I have you send or give your results to me, who's to say I don't purposefully finish the last batch of pictures to specifically make someone pre-picked win the contest? See where I'm going? I would never do this, but there's no proof that I didn't (or wouldn't). So how can I conduct such a contest?

Anyhow, the design of the poster is basically complete, all that's left is captioning the correct date on it and maybe shuffling the design around a little, but the general idea is this...I have created a tile mosaic of a lincoln cent using all the images in the database as the tiles. It's WAY cool in my book, but I'll let each of you judge that for yourself.

Here's an image of the mosaic...the finished poster size will be the right size for a standard poster:

So...How to obtain one of these posters:

1. For one of the specially signed and numbered posters (only 100 will exist), send a donation of $25 or more to the site. In essence you're paying for the poster, but a donation is nicer. Sounds nicer, anyway :O)

2. For one of the unsigned posters, the cost will be $14.95, and I will be creating a page for the site where you can order them directly through paypal...checks and money orders sent to my snail address will be fine as well.

Now...if you're entering the contest to see if you can snipe one of the limited posters, but want to pay for it just in case you don't win...never fear. If you've already paid and are the winner, I'll refund the money you've paid.

Anyhow, that's enough from me for now. So what does everyone think??

Sorry, Charlie...(or Murphy, as it were)...#1 is mine, and #2 is Bob's. #3 will be the lowest number available to the public.

Chuck.. that poster is awesome! My jaw almost hit the floor when I saw it. I dont know how you did it, but its really nice.

I will be sending a donation for one of the posters soon. I cant believe that we are going to hit 10,000 pictures, I remember the big deal it was when this site hit 2,000 pictures.

Hello Chuck... a voice from the past here.

I wanted to drop in and congratulate you on your continuing efforts. I always knew your exceptional dedication and determination would reach that "10,000 photo" milestone we discussed long ago when we tossed about the "Coppercoins version one" so long ago! Absolutely outstanding my friend!

Chuck, congratulations to you and Bob on what will be a fabulous accomplishment. I probably have a binder full of unidentified varieties that I will now have a chance to attribute with all the pictures that have been added to the site. I need to go back and take another look.

I will be sending in my $25 today. If possible, a little doubling on the eyelid or ear would be nice but keep it limited to just one of the 1,000 posters Wink
