47 degrees and snow. 30MPH wind with gusts to 40MPH. Just a very brief downburst of moderate snow, then gone in a flash. Now how odd is that? 15 degrees above freezing and snow.

Chuck, a lot depends on your altitude. I spent, ( off and on)60+ years at 4300 feet, and it would snow at 50 degrees!. Not to say it would stick, but it sure snowed. I have seen it snow twice, here in the last five years, and it was 45 degrees. Obviously it did not stick. We are at 1760'.

Well, we're at 1300 feet...too low for elevation snow, this is just a freak event. I saw it a couple of times in Germany. Once I was in a tee-shirt washing the car and two hours later we had a downburst of snow that dusted the ground for an hour. Both that time and yesterday the snow followed a very heavy gust of wind.
It's snowing again this morning - just a flurry - but it can be expected with the outside temp being 25.

Don't know where your at but around here in the Chicago area it has snowed with temperatures below 0 and above 60F. We just had the warmest December on record. Then February kicked and snow, wind, rain, sunshine, ice storms, hail, etc. Example yesterday it snowed on and off all day, temps from 15 to 30F and wind gust up to 40MPH, forecast was the same for today. Today snow flurries, sunshine, clouds all day and right now at 3PM not hardly a drop of new snow on the ground. Largest snowfall in 1967 was well over 2 feet and temps in the middle 30's. I still remember temperatures of 25 below and snowing around here. This is Chicago and as they say if you don't like the weather just wait a minute and it will change.
