Ed,
Look's like there are alot of issue's with this coin. It would be nice to find one, have it graded, then list the coin. It's a good looking coin. Guess I need to look thru mine.

I'm a lot more sceptical than most, and I would check out the "2"! I don't recall them having straight tops! Maybe it's my eyes, but the duce just don't look right!

Being careful is wise, better than getting ripped off!
It looks like the real deal but some paypal guarantees go up to $2000 but this one is only guaranteed for $200 and the coin will sell for $1000+ (more if it was guaranteed for more) so most careful buyers won't bid more than the guarantee. Regardless of the photo I'd hate to see someone spend thousands then settle for a $200 refund if they get nothing. I agree, most sellers would not list it until it was in hand and graded then offer the full guarantee to get the most money out of it.
The last 92-D close AM I know of that sold was corroded lower grade and I don't remember the exact price but it was $600-1200.
Still looks like the highest grade 92-D close AM yet if it's not a trick of some sort.

ED, you hit the nail right on the head! I checked the link, and the seller. The seller has only 12 sales/feedback score. I like 12K at least, to feel comfortable. I have been ripped of by some of the very low numbers sellers! The photo shows a very desirable condition for any coin. I hope it is genuine.
David, you asked what ai meant.... I refer you to some of the sites that show the counterfeit, altered, (and there are many, and extremely well done), and otherwise "doctored coins. They are quite impressive, to see. I don't have a link to one , but I think CONECA may have a section on this tyoe of "work".

I also emailed the seller, no reply as of yet. I asked if he had resolved all issues with NGC. I know that this is mute but I wanted to see what he said.

DAvid, I wwent back to look at the OBV, again, and the "2" has a nice rounded top section, so I might have had too much magnification. and this time I checked the obv of the Slabbed coin. It looks ok.

Ok Dick, Perhap's NGC got it right this time. I'm not too keen on Grading Company's yet. I thought it looked rouned but I was taking the the advice of you and people that know.
I didn't plan to spend that much money anyway. It's a nice topic to lean on.
Nice topic Ed.
I still haven't heard from the seller!

David,
If you pay using paypal they offer a guarantee up to a certain amount on some things but not all things. I think it's based on # of feedbacks and if the person "verified" (linked their paypal to their bank account) or some combination of those. Some items are guaranteed up to $2000 but that coin was only up to $200.
With that guarantee if you got nothing or a fake paypal would have to refund it regardless of if the seller refunded it. In any case I agree with Dick, I'd want to see some decent number of real high dollar coin items in their feedback because even with a guarantee you don't want the waiting and pleading to get a refund. Certainly if you spent that much $!
Look close at feedbacks not just the number. Scammers can creat an account, buy about 30 items that are 1 cent e books then it looks like they are legit with 100% feedback but it only cost them 30 cents and then they sell one fake item and ask payment in a money order (that can not be traced) and let ebay cancel their account.

I agree Ed. I have 119 feed back with 100% positive. I am verified and I try to be honest. I will PM anyone with my username with a proper response username if they want to. I don't want to bid against anyone here on the forum.
Ed Thank's for the info,
David

David, ED, and any others who care, I will state here, and now, I have NEVER sold on ebay! Nor will I. I buy frequently, but here since joining the forum, I only buy from the bank. I also buy proof, and mint sets from the mint. Nothing else! I don't like the trash I received, the only time I did buy, (bags, and rolls) from the two mints! I will, on occasion, buy from a member, but not thru ebay. I only use PayPal for money xfer, or payments.

Dick,
That's the reason I wanted to know. I don't want to bid against you or anyone else here. I think it is important: To know everyone's bidder's name on Ebay. One might bid but it's important to get a coin at a lower price and not compete against one another.
