WOO HOO got my camera workin again.

Well, there is no way that i can get a good shot of the entire clash without a scope but i did manage to get a few bits of it to show up..kinda representative of what you can see with coin in hand and remember...you can literally see every detail of the obverse in the memorial bays..First pic is the original...second is my attempt to point out some of the clash...dont laugh too hard

Aaron: The mark on the lower right of the memorial is a die crack. All the way to the rim..

yeah coop, i posted about it in the daily finds thread..its the largest die crack i have personally seen on a lincoln. I have another '83 with a die crack similar to this one but it doesnt quite extend to the 11th pillar. On the pic i posted it almost appears to be a small die crack on the top right part of the memorial building as well

I've found a couple more that is larger. One has a crack from the WE to below the ear and another one is cracked from the rim to the upper roof on the left and from the right base to the rim. I've got them around here somewhere. I'll have to take a look and see if I can find them. Just for you.

Aaron: I found one image already on the site of the coin I described with the die cracks from two edges on the reverse. Too bad it circulated. It would make a better image in BU.

I set stuff like this aside for educational purposes. Never know when you will need an image for something odd. I have about 4 rolls of different odd stuff ready to find the corect one for the subject. If I find a better example, the replaced one goes back to circulation. (But that happens rarely)

Aaron, you will find that the 82/83 cents all have a tendency to have cracks on the REV. It is common to see four on the 83's especially. I believe some small design changes to relieve stress in certain areas were implimented to overcome this, but, they still ashow, to a lessor degree. The two bottom corners are almost a sure bet for at least one, and this does NOT include the "spikes", that show now, and then.
Coop, check your email.
Some time later:
Aaron, and DAvid, I don't remember which of the two of you, or if it was you, even, but it concerns a dictinctive feature on some of the older coins, that was commented upon, but I don't beieve an image was ever shown, I ran into one today that will be a little like some I have seen:

It looks like a piece of wood paneling. the streaks of black, and brown are the result of a n alloy mixture that was not completely mixed, and the streaks show the different colors. It shows a bit more if amplified.
Dick
