I can't seem to match this one up. The MM has been punched three time's around the curve's. Also there are split serif's at the bottom of the S, and in the curve on the bottom. It seem's to be tilted to the west.

Question: The Date appear's to be MD, Is it possible to have MD and a error on one coin close in the same area?

David

Hi David - Yes it is. Remember, the RPM is a function of the die itself having been repunched with the same letter "S", while the MDD (machine doubling damage) is a function of the strike, the coin actually bouncing up into the obverse die AFTER the initial strike.

While this does not happen all to often on the same deesign element, it does not add to the overall value of the variety and may, in cases, deduct from the value of the coin.

From your pictures, it does look like you made the correct call, a RPM with MDD.

I agree. You did make the right call on what it is. Sometimes the MDD makes it difficult to identify which variety it is. We will have to work on this one a bit.
