If this one don't get you thinking i don't know what i am doing wrong.
it is a 1998P cent with a very clear die clash but the clash on the rev don't look like it is a cent.
it looks closer to Roosevelt than Lincoln i could be wrong and probably am but the overlay i have from Coop looks different than this one. i know that it is possible but very unlikely that a cent would have a clash with a dime but i cant explain it to myself so you all are on your own. here are the few pic's that i could get to show the clash and enough of the coin to see where it is going.
thanks everyone
Gary

Gary, that is a clash die from a CENT! The top photo shows the back, and top of Abe's head where it is in the same area as the "ONE CENT". There are two vertical lines, and also two horizontal lines that are not part of tjhe clash. The horiz. lines look to be dents in the field, and the vert. appear to be gouges, or maybe feeder marks, although that is rather remote, considering the date, (post 1959, wheat era).
The bottom two photos show the back of the headm and neck, on the ,(your) left, and also on the right side , the lips, chin, and neck. look also in bays 1&2, up high for a "T", "Y". You have to look at a bit differently. Imagine yopu can see thru the coin on top, and see where the different parts of the "facing, coin" would be. Take two mirrors, and put one coinagainst it, Use gum, or what ever, to make it stick, and stay in place. then di the same thing with another coin, (same type, but stick the opposite "face "to the other mirror". Now turn the two mirrors to where you can see the two coins. Get them as close together as possible, and look where the different devices will be in a clash. Confused? I haven't done this, but if I should, that is how I would go about it.
Dick.

It appears to be a clash. I've never seen it that strong in the steps before. Nice find.

Coop
it is a clash and the break on the step is nothing more than a scratch.what i was looking at though is the shape of the clash. it don't look like Abe to me. and it is facing the wrong direction to be a cent. it looks more like a dime clash to me. i just don't know if that is even possible.look at the first pic. it looks just like Roosevelt to me or the shadow of him anyway

Gary, look at the first photo. You have a very good shot form the roof area, looking down towards the field, and cent. Now, look at the part next to the cent, and notice the line that comes curving down from the cent area. It is the curvature of the forehead, and eye socket. An excellent shot! that particular one, I am going to print out, for my files. It provides a very un-usual view. It can be seen to a certain extent in the bottom photo, as well. Nece shots!

Thanks Dick. but that's not the roof it is the steps. coin is upside down but i know what you meant. but my question is. do you see Abe or Roosevelt in the shadow?. as for the pic's i am getting better but if i cant figure out how to get what I'm looking at to show up on the pic i still send, that coin to Coop to do it for me. he has been there for me more than the few times and i can say i learnt what i know from him. but it seems the more he teaches me the dumber i get lol. i still cant get the overlay down. i did it once but then got so excited that i forgot how i did it lol (go figure) reminds me of the puppy that was so happy that i made it home that she peed all over himself
anyway Thanks Coop and Thanks Dick.and everyone else that has and or will be there for me and everyone else that makes such good use of this site.

Gary, I referred to the "position", as tho one was looking down from the roof. I don't make myself very clear at times, Most, maybe. you are right about the overlays. They are the best research item we have, besides out eyes, (when they are working like a young teenager)! The overlays ar the one thing I want to get down pat, whether I get anything else.
As far as who it is, consider that Abe is looking LEFT in a clash, while FDR is looking FIGHT. The profile is different, especially in the profile area of the nose. Abe's is very distinct, in that it tends to slope in towards the face, while FDR's does not. Quite the contrary, it is a bit "projected out, away from the face. The direction that they are looking not withstanding. I must insist, my friend, it is Abe, not FDR.

Gary: That is the correct position for a die clash. The mark in bay 3 is the neck shoulder. The rounded head on the ONE CENT area. Firstime time I've seen the clash show on the steps. But Dick is right. If this was a Off die clash, Roovevlt would ge facing the other way. Its a Cent die clash and a keeper at that.

The line through the steps is the bridge of the nose. But this is an older proof coin. The current design may be a lot wider. I can't find another overlay of the current one. Its on my site, I just can see it right now.
