Started my last box 4/14-finished 4/28
1972-D 3-0-1 (x2)
1972 MD-5-0-1-11
1984 1DO-003
1998 1DR-001
1961-D RPM#4
2004 1DR-006
2004 1DR-009 (x2)
2004 1DR-023
1979-D 1MM-003
Unattributed coins=
3 coins with minor wavy steps and fluting
60 coins with bars, extra feet or knees or combinations
The majority of the bars are small to medium on the 7th column (37 of them)ranging in dates from 1997 to 2007 with most of them on the 2004-P and 2006-P's. 6 of the 60 coins had long or large bars and another 3 coins showed combination bar and feet/knees.
I'm keeping a spread sheet on my bar, feet and knee finds broken down by small, medium and large bars and 6th or 7th column by each date and mint mark. I would copy and paste the matrix but the forum doesn't support it.
Starting a new box tonight.
Hope everyone has a great week,
Rock

I'm going to add the stats from from earlier boxes searched this year and will continue to throughout the year. Maybe I will see some patterns, rarities, etc after awhile. perhaps I will be able to pinpoint specific years, mintmarks, bar sizes, columns and then concentrate on dies which might bring about some hypothesis on these single hubbed anomolies. I'm by no means tackling what Mr. Slaughters is doing, but for my own learning experience.

Hey Rock,

I think the 84-p 1DO-003 you found would be only the first one anyone found (that I've heard of) since the one I found that's listed on the site! Cool to see there's others of it out there. Smile

Hi Ed,
It was suspect when i first glanced at it, but the die crack south of the B in LIBERTY clinched it. I probably would have stashed it in my "look at later file" if I only had the other markers to go by, but the long die crack is a good one.
thanks
Rock

Rock, a comment, and a question:
Great finds, and obviously, comes the question!
Do you use the "Excel" type spreadsheet to log/list your finds? If not, could you give an example? There is SO MUCH to learn about this stuff, that I wish I were about 50 years younger, (with my current knowledge)!!!
Also do you "roll your own" as you go along, or wait until there is a large amount, then make the rolls? I use a whole batch of paper tubes, mounted in three 2x4's. There are holes just big enough to hold the cent sized coins, and the coins are put there as I check them. There are 19 holes to each section, and are numbered by year. As each one is fill;ed, it is placed into a box, and logged in the box index of rolls. That way, I can go to a specific box for a particular roll, or rolls. The boxes are numbered, also. They don't get spent! There are too many non-specs there! They are not the problem. THe ones that are already in flips, are the ones that need attention, ie, logging and/or listing by bits if info. I mention EXCEL, because Coop sent me a copy of how he does his filing after attributing, and I like the way you are listing yours. It seems to have more info, and to have an easier way of filing. I have one of those software programs for all this stuff, even for listing on ebay, but I can't make heads, or tails out of it, and abandoned it! maybe I'm confused, but as I have not started on Coop's way, I thought I had better ask a few questions, before I try "one"! My reasons are few, and simple: I am an expert one-finger typist, (especially when I can see the keys), not to mention the need to edit, because I don't always put the letter I see where I put the finger.. I definitely need to do "something", because I can't keep examples, and/or "PUP's" in front all the time. NO ROOM!!! Every now, and then, I have to make more boxes, (150 ea. 2X2 flips), to make room!
When I was younger, or better said, when my eyes were better, I could put the bullet where I put the "eye-ball"! If you are familiar with the eye problem: MD, Macular Deterioration, you know from where I come! Have a nice day!
Dick

Wow Dick, your post made me laugh real hard. Laughing I understand about the eyes. I've only had sight in one eye my whole life and have learned to compensate. As far as records go, I do things differently over time depending on how much time i have to spend on it and/or resources. I love stats and have kept stats on all my collections for the past 30 years even after they are long gone. Any spreadsheet will work, excel, word, any of them will suffice. I start out very simple and will usually redo it 4 or 5 times over a period of a few months to tweak it better and better. I have used professional coin inventory software programs in the past but none of them are really for varieties. For the run of the mill finds, anything under 10-15$ I tube it. and I keep a notebook next to me and write down a very brief description...date, sm bar 6th col. If the coin is a dud it goes in a big plastic bucket, while copper goes in an old mint bag. When the box I'm searching is finished, I transfer the info from the notebook to the spreadsheet, the tubes get put away and the plastic bucket goes to the star-coin machine because its worth the $3.00 to me not to sit there and roll tons of coins. Then its off to the bank for another box. At some point, I will take the tubed finding and break them down into more tubes such as all 2006-p small bar on 7th column will be in one tube. Then i will pull them out and photograph each one. From there i will compare and use overlays to find similarities, then i will attemp to attribute if i think its worth it at the time. My better finds, ie larger bars, obverse doublings, anything i feel is more significant, i take the time to attribute and put into flips. I also leave nothing for the next day. I finish, put away and clean everything up each day when i am done. It keeps me better organized.

Rock, good evenig! I realize this is new finds, and should be more directly, aimed toward that end, but....(maybe that is why Chuck is re-building the site)! I read your post with great interest, because I am not that well versed in the computer usage, but, I am learning, day by day. Some days a LOT, others, little, or nothing.I have tried to put the info, on my coins into an "Untitled" file, and rename it for the end it requires. Most of these files were lost when I had to re-format, and restore the programming. (The one thing I HATE about "brand name" units. I use Word for making a tenants list, which I update frequently, due to "departures", as a courtesy to the managers of the Park where I live. Beyond this, I am essencially "computer illiterate". In essence, I have been doing the same as you, in that respect. There it ends. I have several "irons in the fire", all the time, and so far, have been able to keep them separate. After all, a coin is a coin.....I seem to be losing ground, because, as I said, I'm running out of room! I don't use coin-star. I don't "Turn 'em loose", because there are too many that I couldn't identify, but still had the criteria in place to "hold 'em"! So the numbered boxes. I like the idea about putting the coins in one place, and when you are ready, photograph them for filing. Mine are not photographed, (yet). One of these days!!!
