It's official, as of last evening listing 1964P-1DR-005P, submitted by Dennis Mears, pulled coppercoins.com over the 2,000 die varieties milestone.

Less than two months after hitting 10,000 photos on the site, this milestone shows we are progressing and moving forward. Once again it shows that this is the largest and most comprehensive reference for Lincoln cent die variety information anywhere in any form.

Congratulations, Chuck, and Bob! This should include the many members who have sent in their coins to be attributed. Great job, ALL!

2000 Lincoln Cent die varieties! Wow !

I wonder how many Obverse and Reverse dies have been used from 1909 to date? I guess you could add up the total mintage figures, and then divide by an estimated x coins per die to get an approximation.

Anyone want to take a crack at that.

What's the total Lincoln Mintage through 2006?

Or you could say that the error rate is....? - 2 % = 100,000 Obverse and Reverse dies. See how close that comes to the above method. However, the "Single Squeez" of late makes the total estimated 2 % error rate rather suspect.
