Is there a known sample of a 2001D-5DO-rotated at about K-8?
I'll post photos of the areas I suspect, for comment, in a later edit. Thanks,
Much later:

the small "bar" in front of the eyelid, eye, and bridge of nose. The curved piece between neck, and ribbon.
the apparent MD going opposite directions on motto, and Liberty/date, MM etc. all seem to be related to a rotation at K-8. MM might be an RPM.

As far as I know, there are no 2001 DDOs on Nickels. The pictures you posted all show some Mechanical doubling, especially the ares you mentioned. In addition, it couldn't be an RPM either because these are hubbed using the single squeeze method as well. If this was actual hub doubling on the mintmark, even it would be considered a DDO. This is not the case on the coin photographed.

Good point, Bob. I forgot the date/relationship, entirely. Definitely NOT an RPM.

It's always make me look a second time on the machine doubling. I set aside the extreme machine doubled ones in a tube for educational purposes.
