I'm trying to put pics and all the info in one post
They used the wide AM reverse for normal bus strikes up to and including 1992. 1993 to present are intended to have the close AM.
There are some 1992 P and D with close AM that are VERY rare.
There are some 1998, 1999, 2000 bus strikes with wide AM that are rare. The 1999 is MUCH scarcer than the rest. It's likely that only one wide AM die was used in 1999 but many were used in 1998 and 2000 which is why they are less rare.
These coins are often called "proof reverse hub" but none of them were prepared as proof dies however the hub used was only intended for use on proof coins.
All normal proof memorials are wide AM except 1993 which is close. (try to find a wide proof or bus strike 1993!)
There are some 1998 and 1999 proofs with the close AM and the 1998 is scarcer than the 1999.
Notice in the photos that the wide AM varieties have the FG closer to the corner of the memorial building. Beware that some close AMs do have a gap between the AM, (caused by strike or die polishing) these are normal close AMs unless the FG is close to the building.
Nice images Ed. Your improving! It just take experience to get what you want every time. _________________ Richard S. Cooper
You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.
Thanks Ed for the time and effort you put into this.
Nothing is better for me to understand something than to actually see it.
You have done just that.
Thanks for taking the time Ed.
Best,
