Does anyone recall seeing any discussion about the area I have pointed out on this coin. I know I has seen something about it somewhere just can't recall. Wondering what it is.

I recall seeing something about it, but like with all other president dollar info, I skipped it and don't remember where I saw it.
Try finding Billy Crawford's online die variety magazine. I think he had some info about these in there. I'm sure there's an article about it in a rather recent Numismatic News as well.

Speaking of the Jefferson dollar, I just did an attribution last week concerning the extra "ray" in Liberty's crown.
This is a die clash, well placed and you may also see a circle in / or around Liberty's neck. This is the nose bridge and left eye of Jefferson.
I have seen a few pop up on E-bay as the rare "8th Ray die" and some even elude to being some sort of doubled die. While it is neat and I imagine somewhat collectible, it is not worth an arm or a leg.
This die clash has been confirmed with use of overlays and it fits exactly.
