With only 2.5 million made, this 5th lowest in population cent has finally started its rise in prices.

At the begining of the year, a G-4 conditioned 1924-D could have been added to ones collection for $17.00, now it is at $40.00 in some of the price guides. Surprisingly, only the lower grades have been affected, up to EF-40, with some of the MS grades actually dropping in price. Is it time to buy an above average 1924-D Lincoln cent in the MS range? With prices equivalent to the 1923-S Lincoln cent in MS condition, with a mintage of over 3 times (8,700,00) that of the 1924-D, it will not be long before collectors realize this price difference.

Angel Dee's has a high end selection of Lincoln cents. They have a 24-D in NGC 63BN for $350. No 23-S in stock right now. The site does not post photos of the coins for sale, however.

www.lincolncent.com has 7 23-S for sale ranging from an AU-55 for $97.50 to an F-12 for $3.75. There is also a photo of a nice AU-50 going for $69.50. No 24-D right now.

Hello All here at the Coppercoins Forum,

I have hoarded over a ton of copper pennies, and so far my best wheat find, is a 1924 D, I'll try to post a picture if I can figure out how.

Nice forum here. Andy

Hi Andy,
Welcome to the forum. You might want to read through a few of the threads here to figure out how to post photos...OK?

Thanks for the welcome.......I'm quite busy so my posts may be dramatically delayed some times. I work full time, run a business on the side, and have a family, it's also my favorite time of the year, little league for my 2 boys, they are 7 and 9, both playing at different levels. My only break from the daily routine is watching the practices and games.

I did pick up some coins today, pennies, halves and Dimes. Got 4 40% halves, one 1964 90% in AU. Also $200 in dimes, opened the first roll and got a 1941 merc. I really though I was on to a rich vein, but it ended up being the only one. I'll admit I'm more of a "metal" hoarder than a pure Numismatist, but I'm trying to convert, and mostly learn what is valuable, other than the obvious metal plays. Thanks again for the Welcome Andy
