The 4's have a rotated split. I couldn't find this one on the Die Variety list. It may be nothing but It doesn't hurt to ask.

Pages 124 & 125 in Chucks book mentions the master die doubling that was common for that year. Yes it is on the 44, but always makes you feel: 'I've found something.' But compare with other examples abd you will see it is common. Darn it!

Thank's Coop,
I've since found 1 more. I thought it might be common.

David, and Coop, I didn't know they were THAT comm on. I guess I'll have to dig mine out again, and check then again. I have been busy, going thru boxes of half-dollars, making up "roll-sets, "P", &'D", of the '71, to date. Can't find any of the silver ones, anymore. I just need the1978-D to finish the "D" box, but about 15 0f the "P" rolls are short. Aslo need the PA, and Maine quarters for the same type of set, ie, date/rolls".

Hummmm. The 1978 P & D Halves and the 1979-D Haves are lower mintage. Never noticed that before.

Coop, I would say that it is a normal scenario, not noticing the lower mintages, unless one checks the red book, or other sources, to check that figures. Where we look for varieties,, or try to complete a "p-D" set, (pairs), it is not noticable that some are much less seen, than others. I find the same thing in the quareter date/roll sets I have.
Being a "passanger", now, instead of the driver is something I am getting used to. I turned in my driver license for a CA "ID" card, today. You have no idea how much "fun?" it is, proof reading, before submitting, and even then it is dard. I see some of the letters in a word, nbut not all, all the time. It will take some getting used to, as well. As long as I can still find the MM, thru the scope, I'll keep looking. I may be "down, but definitely not out"!
