I sold this on ebay a couple of months ago. IT SOLD FOR $1278.00, WHY!!!....

I do not know the grades of colonial I guess but I would have thought it was a very good condition, and my book (redbook 2006) said $250.00, did I sell a rare coin by accident. I would have been happy with $75.00, it sold well over that.

here is a link to the auction:

I haven't got a clue about these but looking at the photos you posted and the one in the Red Book the only difference I can see is the lettering on the east side of the reverse is much lower on your coin. May not have a thing to do with it though.

It appears someone really really wanted that one.

Well I found another photo in another book and it shows the lettering in a different placed than the two already mentioned so I guess that is probably not it. I suppose the lettering could be just about anywhere .

Hum?

If you look at the 3.4 - F.1 link here, the obverse die looks similar to yours. The link at 3.4 - F.2 says that used the same obverse die as F.1 and is more common, but F.2 is R-3, F.1 R-2, so not much difference. I think you just got lucky.

Your pic isnt there any more, but I thought the obverse was closer to the 3.4.
