While doing the Lincoln cent survey, this one popped out of a roll.
It has a 19.1mm diameter, wieghs 2.7 grams and it appears to be a copper alloy (brass or bronze?)
Anyone have any ideas as to when, what and why?
Thanks for any information

Neat!
Seems like NY had more tokens than other areas.
I wonder if it's from the 1860s?

I just did a bit of reading and it seems that D. L. Wing was involved in a few scandles back in 1887, 1888 and 1889, mostly to do with securities, bonds and stocks.
The things that you find in a penny roll (LOL).
Thanks for the info Bob and Ed.

Well, that would make this the oldest find to date for sure...the other oldest find in the search so far was a circ 1925S cent. I believe someone else found a 1913 cent.
My oldest find to date - ever - was an 1863 CWT that had capped LIBERTY on the obverse and "ARMY NAVY" on the reverse. A rather common token, but in a roll of cents??
I have also found a grand total of five IHCs in my roll searching over the years, and hundreds upon hundreds of wheats...most interesting (to me) was a 1925S-1MM-001 in VF. Got that in pocket change one day.

Very cool. D.L. Wing CWT's are relatively common varieties Nice condition too other than the rim hits.
