I know there was a post about these things before. Guess I didn't look back far enough to find it. I have no time left with this cent project I'm working on.

Wanted to share this little goodie I found. I have a bird on the memorial. Yep.. clear as day. Take a look.

I know. I know. You're all jealous. Eat your heats out!! I love it. I want it as my avatar. Laughing

Thanks Bob. Now you'll all know me. That could be a bad thing. Smile

Dick, it does look like a hummingbird. Wonder what it's been eating cause I KNOW I'd like to stay away from it.

Not sure, Mary. Maybe he likes buzzards! Nice job, Bob, and I love the "red carpet treatment for "ole ABE. Stutter, Bob? I'll bet that took a while, in both cases!

Neat find Mary, however, more like the Ceryle guttata than anything else and a rather large one at that.

I don't know about that, BJ. The beak still resembles that of the humming bird (Archilochus colubris). But, whatever it is, it must be at least the size of the Casuarius uniappendiculatus. HAH!! So there!! I looked it up. Laughing

Dick, I love your response. Thanks for the laugh.

A spotted kingfisher is the bird that I thought of. I do think that the body of your bird on the Memorial is a bit to small for a cassowary and then it is also in the wrong part of the world.

Gotcha Mary.

Good pics all!

Mary:
Looks like a Great Auk or (dare I say it) a Dodo to me. I don't know why there would be an extinct bird on the Lincoln Memorial, but there you go. Could be worse... it could be a Columba livia.

Bob:
EXCELLENT find! There must be four score and seven Abes in there.

That reminds me... I once found a cent that instead of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA on the reverse said AIM IT AT US, CONFEDERATES. But I can't find the coin now.

Actually, folks, the bird is a "Mig-wump". A Bird that sits with his mug, on one side of the fence, and his wump, on the other. Shocked
