Is this similar to the one in Chuck's book that is 1949S-1DO-001?

Sandra,
You definitely have a variety there! There are 3 different 1949S doubled dies that have the blunt 4 over pointed 4 in the date. The only way to determine which doubled die you have would probably be mint mark positioning. You can check out which one you might have by clicking here and trying to match up the markers:
