Seems fairly close to the 9, just curious.

I wouldn't call that typical. That is pretty darn close to the date. I've found a few MM located outside the realm of 'normal' also. I have a 1974 D that is pretty far south and west of its usual location. I kept it, though I'm not sure if there is a much of a premium for unusual MM locations.

Remember the MM is within the rim, vest, and date, until 1990, then it is "fixed. no special premium on the "wandering" MM. It does, however, make an excellent marker for a specific date/variety.
