Is there such a thing as a 1983 penny on a old copper planchet instead of the modern zinc planchet? I have heard stories, but have not seen any verification. Also if they are verified, how rare are they and have any of them been sold in public auctions?

There are a few 1983 cents struck on solid copper-alloy planchets. Billy Crawford found one about a year ago searching through rolls. _________________ President of CONECA; Host of Error Coin Information Exchange (Yahoo:Groups).
