Hi all,
I have shown this pic to a few other coin groups....it is always good for a few posts...I beleive it to be a 1992 Kennedy half with mechanical doubling around the ear....but BOY!! is it noticable!!!! Please let me know what you think!!

Hope this works!!!

If you cannot see the detail too good you may be able to view a better pic at Photostation...

http://home1.eng.photostation.epson.com.hk/servlet/com.arcsoft.LoginNew?com=arcsoftBanner&awp=index3.html&DIRECT=show
just type in Coinnut for member ID and finecut for the password....you can then click on the image to get a more detailed look...for an even better pic just click on the view original image button to the left of the image....

Hey Coinnut... What incredible doubling on this piece. I can't say for sure whether it's mechanical or not, but it is indeed very noticable. I can't tell by looking at the photo if the second image is rounded or flat, or I'd be able to give a better opinion. Either way, it is quite nice...something I'd definitely hold on to.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for responding....The coin's extra line around the ear is definitly rounded....looks identical to the actual ear....the picture does not do the coin justice.....I did find it in a circulated roll from the bank but the scanner will simply not get the color right.. Crying or Very sad
Coop....you can view the coins I have pictured there by typing in finecut
for the password.....this is a special album I set up for guests to view coins and items of interest.....and you are more than welcome to view them anytime!!!

If you do I hope it is not like this.

That would be Machine Doubling. Real doubled dies look seperated or wider is size not just shoved a different direction or step like.

Hi Coinnut,
If the secondary image on your coin is rounded, it would be very interesting indeed. Coop posted some nice pics to compare it with. I certainly would be interested in seeing it to make a determination that way. If you think you might want to send it to me, I can have a look, take a bunch of close-up pictures (which I will send to you of course) and give you my opinion. I have all the equipment necessary to get some nice pics. You might be able to post the close-ups on your site. Just an idea.
I know you don't know me from Adam, but the folks here can vouch for me I'm sure. A lot of the pics on coppercoins.com I have taken. Most are pretty nice, but some need to be replaced. Let me know what you think. You can email me directly at mustbebob1@earthlink.net if you are interested.

Hi Bob,
I tried to send you a message reguarding Kennedy half...
Earthlink is recognizing it as spam and has blocked it...I sent a request to be added to your list so that it would be delivered,,,, I included a picture of the coin in the email...may be that was the problem.....
I also sent you a private message on this board......
Thanks,

Hi Bob,
Glad to know it has arrived safely!! You can feel free to disclose any opinions to the group as knowledge is the key thing here and sharing knowledge is what these groups should be about..... I have my fingers crossed but it is oK if it turns out to be die chatter. It is just one of those items that jumped out at me when I was looking thru some bank rolls of Kennedys.
It is unusual to say the very least and has generated more than its fair share of comments since I found it!! Rolling Eyes

Well, I had a good look at the coin, and even consulted Chuck about it. This coin was double struck in the collar, and is very nice indeed. The photo included here shows the closeup of the ear. I sent a detailed report and more pics to you Coin Nut 4. Hope you like them!

It's a really nice example of that error type, and with Bob's pics, there shouldn't be any trouble in showing it off and/or selling it. Congrats on a nice error!

Coin nut: Have you seen the seperation on the 1964-D doulbed Die Obverse? It is really nice.

Or this Tripled Die Obverse. Both are 1964-D Half Dollars. This one is even a RPM.

Picked this up while trying to complete a Kennedy Half book for regular price. Didn't notice the Triple die till later on. The Doubled Die I found in change. Enjoy the images.
