Someone just found out the hard way--if you send money via email to anyone who has a PayPal account registered to a different email addresss--they might not be able to access that money. Mad

It's my first-hand experience where I was sent money--but since I have my bank accounts registered to another paypal address, I cannot redeem or return the money sent. Essentially it becomes PayPal's undeserved property!

I wish I could figuratively storm the "Paypal Fortress" and demand that money returned. If only I could do that for real. Twisted Evil

Just a heads-up to everyone--avoid this money trap!

Can you not register your accounts to the other Pay Pal address as well?? There is no way PayPal should be able to keep it. The person who sent it should be able to get it back since it was draw on their account, and then re-send it to your proper address.

Well, in this particular case I should be more specific. The money was sent to an email address which at one time had its own PayPal account. Because of this, PayPal restricts me from adding this email to the account I presently use. To spare you all the annoying details, I cannot transfer funds from an old PayPal ID because I have used my bank accounts to verify my new ID.

If that doesn't make sense, welcome to the club. I get a headache just thinking about it. Mad This may be the exception vs. the rule.

I think after 30 days of not being accepted the payment just vanishes so whovever sent it to you gets it back.

I was thinking about that, just befoe I got up, and decidec the bank can do nothing, either. It would be the same story as the PayPay request for the return, due to an error on my part. So it becomes a case of "wait and see". I doube if ever the money would be returned,because I donm't think kurt got his back, either, and that has been more than 30 days, Net result, a new money trap in our midst! be aware of who, and how you send money. Id' hate to think it was one of my large efforts where there was several hundred dollars involved. I get weak, just hinking of what would happen if that had been the case!

Right--PayPal says the "money is in my account", but since I cannot actually access that money in any shape or form, it becomes PayPal's money. No doubt this happens to countless others, so I'll guess this has become part of PayPal's unwritten "business model": make a mistake, and that money is "theirs." Banks cannot do this--so why can Paypal?

I hope this practice comes under the scrutiny of a regulatory agency Twisted Evil

Kurt, I read the " no doubt this happened to countless others," and agree 100%. I thought about the re-creating of the other account, but decided it would "put the shoe on the other foot", and the end result would be the same.
Too bad there is no other way, or place to do what ebay, and PayPal are doing, (when they do it lawfully, and with consideration of the ones who are making them, (ebay and PayPal, (one, and the same, since ebay bought PayPal), rich with their fees. I for one would love to see some other way to do what we do, and without fear of being "used". Most interesting article by the Aussie.
