There was alot of anticipation among Carson City enthusiasts, particularly members of the Carson City Coin Collectors of America group. An 1870-CC double eagle NGC XF-40 went on the block in the Husky Collection. The coin sold for $299,000 including buyer premium. Some members of that group believed the coin would top $400,000. One member pointed out that a VF-30 specimen was recently listed for sale somewhere at $310K.
