I was at the Niles Coin Shop Saturday in Niles IL. and the owner there showed us a box that just arrived from NGC. The box looked like it had been hit on the corner. A corner was flattened but not too badly. The box contained 4 newly encapsulated St Gaudens double eagles. Three were graded MS64 and one was graded a 65. The 65 holder was shattered. And he was concerned that the coin was damaged. So he was going to send it back Monday. He said it was just bad luck that of all the coins the one graded 65 shattered. I guess the moral is to always check the contents before accepting.
