I have a question about the second strike on this one.It seems different than most .What would explain this ?I am refering to the postion of the second strike. _________________ The opinions that I express do often reflect stupidity.
Carol,
The first coin never made it out of the coining chamber before the die came down for the next coin. When the fingers eject a coin, they do have a tendency to kind of come flying out of the chamber. Thus, some rotation of the coin before it got stuck is not all that uncommon before it was struck again. This is a nice double strike, but pretty typical. _________________ Bob Piazza

It seems (from what I see not price guides) that ones like yours where you can see the date and MM get a premium over ones without dates. There's a lot of off centers and double strikes where the date is not there. Also the less torn up the plating is the better because those torn areas of plating might someday get corroded.
