Considering the mint mark was added to the die by hand later, the position/location/angle will very from die to die. Kind of handy as a marker for varieites.

One reason that this coin might have looked unusual is in 1941-S they used a small S and also a large S.

Your coin is the large S variety so if you look at it next to a small S this one will look very unusual and any tilt or closeness to the date looks exagerated (even though it's normal) because the S is big.

If I am correct in saying: the Large S MM was added in the latter part of the year. The Large S is more rarer than the Small. Regardless, I would keep the Large S.

I don't think it is accurate to say that the large MM was added later on in the year. It could have been that they started using it first, and it was then replaced by the small MM. We only know by going through coins how much a difference there is between those minted with either the large or small MM. There is no premium differences yet. I do not know if actual numbers of those struck with either/or was ever tabulated either. As far as what you choose to hold on to, that is your decision as a collector. For me, I do not hold onto either one of them, even though this year is one of my favorites to search.

Sometimes our hobby focuses on something but ignores another. What I mean is people try to get the normal varieties like 60 LD/SD or 70 LD/SD or the 79 or 80 proofs with clear S but nobody ever seems to care about 41-S large/small S. You won't see a spot for it in a cent folder even though it's a naked eye variety LOL.

The reason might be that both types are easy to find.

Bob, Ed,

Thank's for the clarification. I thought I read that somewhere.
