Congratulations go to Mary for reporting the first dollar coin with trails and I believe the first die variety for this year, 2008.
While not spectacular, it is important since it is a dollar coin with trails.
As you can see from the photos provided, trails are coming off the flames of Liberty's torch and also the ES of STATES. The offset direction is to the northeast.
Congratulations Mary on a very nice find. This is now listed in my files as 2008P-100DER-001T.

I found this by accident. Hmmm.. I guess I'll have to go back and look at the other presidents I have stached. Sorry, can't afford to keep too many of them, but I'll look through what I have and let you know.

Actually, it was not the first die variety for this year, however, it is one of the very few found so far. 2008 may be a year of slim pickings for the variety hunter!.
