Thanks to MaryJF we may have a major story brewing. just in case a major paper picks this up, I'll keep it brief.
MaryJF has found three different dies on the Monroe dollar coin with trails:
Die # 1
Die # 2
Die # 3
These finds, like the JQA trail dollar coin are all great finds and usher in the trails into 2008.
Once again, carefull searching and persistance has paid off.
CONGRATULATIONS MaryJF.

I asked the same question on another die variety thread. What is the significance of the trails? Do we expect a premium will be attached to them? Thanks !

These are a die variety, similar in nature to a doubled die (some even call it that), so I would think that a premium would be attached.
Since trails are one in the same thing as wavy steps, take a look at this die on Coppercoins' for value. 1999P-1DR-003; this will give you some idea of value.

Thanks much, B.J. I just noticed your explanation in another post in "the Weather" category when you commented on a 1999. I wonder how many have passed thru my hands...

Hi Dick - there are not to many dies listed, however, just click on the date and it will bring you to the page (or other topics will do the same). So far there are entries in 1993, 1995 and 2008 and that is about it.

BJ, I clicked on '95-D, (because Carol gave me the link), and I wanted to see what you have there, but for some reason it didn't work, or it was slower loading than I expected. Later I did see the two she submitted, along with the one Bill sent. he told me that he found one, and had submitted it.
