Rather than changing my e-mail address and the hassel involved have you folks found a program to work with Outlook Express and XP to help me minimize the 250+ annoying messages I recieve every day? It seems that most fixes concern identifying particular words within the subject line but, Jeeze, we're talking countless words such as debt, dating, etc. Add to that there has to 27,859+ ways to spell all these darned drugs like Viagra etc.!! Isn't there a program to concentrate on the senders and block them? I don't know about you folks but I'm getting hammered lately by "Pacific Advanced, Sapphirex Access, Alliance Expeditors, Western Barter and countless personal names that change daily". Granted, I can delete hundreds in seconds but wading thru them to make sure I'm not dumping something worthwhile is a pain in the butt! Also, I made the mistake a while back of joining a couple Yahoo groups when I was into genealogy etc. but unsubcsribing from them seems damned near impossible! Any recommendations from hard earned experience would be greatly appreciated.

Doug...who is your ISP? Most of them now have spam blocking software. I use earthlink, and they supply me with two additional folders....one that has known SPAM, and the other has suspected SPAM. The only mail delivered to your inbox is from folks in your address book. You have the options of looking at the folders with all the junk in them, and manually deleting them (1 button can do it all), or they are all deleted automatically after 14 days.
I use outlook to deliver all my mail from the 3 accounts I have, so it only delivers what's in my inboxes...not what's in the SPAM boxes.
I would check with your ISP and see what they have available. By only allowing mail to people in your address book, you can cut down on just about ALL of the SPAM.

Thanks Bob, I'm still on an "el cheapo" local ISP that doesn't offer spam blocking. I'm due to change providers so I'll give Earthlink a look this AM.

Hi doug,
I used to have alot of the same problems with my email account as well..........especially since I just use the MSN hotmail.but I found out they have a filter system to delete most of the junk before it gets to you,,,,,,,and if you set it to high it will only let a very few spamms get thru........I get maybe one or two a day now........I do not use the outlook express when I had the new computer built.........too many bugs for me to try and fix.........so I just use the hotmail account for most of my net surfing
