not a whole lot around, but the price hasn't really changed in years has it?

I'm thinking the wide AM 1999 and the close AM 1992 p/d and the close AM proof 1999 and 1998 will hold good prices.
The wide AM 1998 and 2000 will not do much, there's too many of them for the number of collectors that want them or even know what they are.
If 10% of collectors that have a wide 1998 and 2000 want a wide 1999 to go with them that will keep the 1999 value up there.
Just my opinion.

I have mentioned this on the forum before, I have a 1998 Wide AM that is attributed in a PCGS holder. It was with a few coins that I wanted to trade in for something else. The dealer looked at it and either didnt know what it was or know how to price it so he didnt take it.

I think I need to get my attributed. I am can only hope that the demand will keep the price up.

Is there any sense in holding on to the 2-2000 wide AM's that I have? Doesn't sound like they are worth much.

Sandra, Let me put it this way: There are those whon have found them, but IO, personally have never seen one, and IO go thru a lot of coins a week. That doesn't say the next 2000, I look at will be a wide-AM. Odds are no, but I would hold them. After all is said and done, thet are worth face value...If that is all they cost you, then look at it this way: "A penny saved, is a penny earned".

There are PLENTY of collectors who live in the Denver mint district who have never found or seen a 2000 wide AM coin. Given that they are listed in the Red Book, they are sound as recognized oddities, and have noplace but up to go. As they get older, they will be worth more - when collectors are fairly convinced they won't find one in change.

old topic but i figured i would interject that i have found 3 1998 Wide and 2 2000 Wide out of pocket change and they were all found within the last 5 years around the same area as well. would love to find a 1999 but doubt it will ever happen. I tend to agree with Chuck about them going up in price, it may take 10 years but eventually they will become scarce pocket change finds so im holding onto mine for the long term.

Well, since aballein jumped in so will I. I have a fascination for these type 2's and love hunting for them. I have found quite a few 1998's and 2000's but the 1999 has been impossible for me to find. So, as I mentioned before, I gave my son all my coin stuff about a year ago, microscope, books, dansco's etc. He was all excited and started right in on the coin roll search. Sure enough, the first week at it, he pulled a 1999 wide AM out of a roll. I verified it and its even in great condition. Go figure. I'm still looking for my first. Personally, I think the type II's will always be of interest to collectors but grade will determine prices.
