these two shots are, 1. the dark one,was shot with the flash, inadvertantly. 2. This was shot with out flash, but, lke the first, with the difuser in place. The coin is only a subject. I would like comments about the overall clarity, of the one you sonsider the best, and if this is the one O should continut to work with. This is not the new camera. Thanks for your comments, and critiques.

Dick,

I like the 2nd photo better. It show's more of the natural color.

Thank you David. I was jopiny you would like the lighter one more, because it , ( is brighter than I wanted, but has more clarity). The next shots will have the samt setting, but more zoom.
The settings are : These, 20X. The next will be 40X, The ony two settings possible on this scope.

2nd pic is good, more like the coin looks.

Flash is never good for coins.

Hope the new camera is ok, looking foreward to see the pics. Smile

Dick: Your flash does lighten the coin, but sometimes that is welcomed. You can remove the extra lightness with Photo shop, but if you are trying to lighten a darker image, you loose detail. On circulated coins I don't get enough light, but the flash on my camera makes the coin glow like the sun.
You might try to bathe this coin with mineral oil and a worn out soft toothbrush. You might be surprized with the result you get. I remove the excess mineral oil with a facial tissue pressing down several times. The light reflects off the oil and makes the image a little lighter. But it proves a point: Sometimes accidents can take/leave with/without and answer to a problem. You just have to keep trying. Keep what works and forget what doesn't.

Coop, I got distracted by dinner, some gossip, and the rain!
Now for your comments, I am tyrying to go along with your ideas, and at the same tiime improvise. with what Might work. At the moment, I am trying to find something that will give light without shadows, and still not be too bright. 1/4" foam-rubber does a nice job, but is too bright. I am mnot that familiar with PS, (and have almost abandoned it, for a while, but will try to get back in that area again, as well).I am not usinfg the new camers. This is the old setup, but with different types if didduser, to get a well-lighted coin, but without shadows, and Most important, GLARE. I haven't truied shooting thru this scope, and while I am
"dreaming "the new setup for the new camera, figured I couild improve on the old, and at least see wat the other scope will do under the same conditions. Kike I said, the coins is just a target. i'will be using BU, corroded, and Proof,,as well as theru the cello, in flips. I want to know what can be done, and still be acceptable.
This next photo is the same coin. but with a mantle on the light.

Still too bright.
Dick

Thgis is more to what I'm lookinng for:

It is with the "mantle on, and the foam rubber alongside. Incidently, the light is fixed, and non-adjustble, on this scope. I want to try the same thng on the other scope, with the adjustablelight angle.
