I never previously put two and two together, but check out some of the names of sculptors whose works are a part of that building:

On either side of the main steps are seated marble figures. These large statues are the work of sculptor James Earle Fraser. On the left is a female figure, the Contemplation of Justice. On the right is a male figure, the Guardian or Authority of Law.

You'll find that many of our coin designers are first sculptors, second coin designers. St. Gaudens, Brenner, etc..

I knew they were sculptors, but I didn't realize their work was on the Supreme Court building.
