Well, now that Obama has taken over the oval office, I wonder what kind of "Shenanigans" we can expect! Who knows, maybe he will open the draft, and include all reserves, and retirees, to age 60! I would volunteer again, but I would get the same answer: "Over-qualified"! To discriminate based on age, is a "NO-NO"! I also hope he has a good idea about ":speaking softly, and carry a big stick"! It is time for a few nations realize you don't taunt the bear, withouit " paying the price, sooner, or later! I'll sit back, and see what happens.

No matter what, we gotta give this man a chance. We gave that chance to G. W. Bush (TWICE), and look what happened. He takes over in very uncertain times, so let him have at it, and hope that he does well.

Yes, and we all witnessed quite a moment in US history today.
I wish the best of success--to everyone!

The man is very intellegent, likeable and well spoken, but it's his politics that scare me. The thought that you can reach out and make friends with radical islam is a nice idea, but FAR from reality.
Also the fact that one of his campain promises' was "wealth distribution" makes me start smelling socialism. Now THAT is scary.
For now I will wish him the best and wait and see..........
Cheers,
JAY

Well, in terms of "wealth distribution", we're witnessing that already with the bank bailouts...that's an upwards distribution too. Socialism for capitalists
sorry...I digress, and never usually talk finance/politics here.
I get boring...faster than usual!

I concur with all the above! His first words were You are going to see your kids back home, very soon!. Now THAT bothers me! I trust he is not going to "just walk out of Iraq, and afghanistan!. That could be diasaterous! I say give him a chance, but if he goes wrong, there is a way to put the brakes on ti, or 'put the skids under him"! We once had a "peanit vender, with a brother, who was a representative of a foreign power: Libia. He can't go too far wrong, becaosu this nation has too many of the WWII, and on down the line towards today, and most are still able to raise a lot of hell, if need be! We may be old, but we are not out of action, should the need arise!

Well, for a perspective on the Iraq topic, I enjoyed watching the movie "Battle of Algiers". It was actually recommended viewing for govt. involved in the strategy towards Iraq. Simply put: keeping the peace as "Kafir" in a Muslim country is a thankless job. Guess why France was so opposed to us revisiting their mistake? Saddam kept the sectarian violence in check (nasty as that was), BUT remove him and you've changed the situation there entirely. Same happened when Tito no longer ruled Yugoslavija, and everyone decided to settle their scores.
If they want civil war in Iraq, we'll never stop them.
OK--I'll shaddup now

Kurt, I agree, and if we do pull out, you know for sure, Iran will move in, FAST! That could be the proficied "Apocolipse! Once Iraq is under their control, then Saudi Arabia will fall like a line of dominoes! It could get VERY NASTY, with nuclear weaponry, being used. Which in turn, mens more of the same will have to be used to stop the damage, before it wipes out mankind,(again?)!

Although I don't agree with many things Obama has proposed, I was full of pride and joy to see him get sworn in yesterday.
I wish him the best!

I think the photo of him on the first day on the job says it all.
