It was dipped in acid.
They did it in science classes or for fun.
Many of them were made to be dime sized probably so they could spend them in machines back when dimes.

I didn't do this, because I didn't have a Science, or Chemistry class.
But from the various posts, I've read, yes, I concur. Acid bath!

Ken: Now you have a thin Cent. I've found several of them. The edges are almost sharp enough to cut you.

Ken, Coop knows what he's talking about! He found out the hard way, in class, when the teacher helped him bandage the finger.

Finger? The whole hand, I cut myself with the coin and burned the rest of the hand on the acid after the test tube broke, no mentioning the new pair of shoes I had to by and replacing the tile on the floor.

Coop, I am getting the feeling that we are about to "feel the power of a kick by a "good old Missouri Mule", "to coin a phrase". i think I made a mistake, tearing down my setup for photographing error coins, and others, as well. because the new camera, does not lend itself for my dwesires, (probably because I don't know how to make it do what I want! Anyway, it will do what I need to have done, for the present, and learn to use the other.
