I'm pretty sure that the 1953d is a confirmed variety, I even looked up your points of interest on it and although my pic's aren't the grearest I tried to show some of them. As far as the 1955 goes What do you think?? I only took the one pic of it.

Pubcrawler: I got a roll of 1955 plain cents. It had 18 out of 50 that looked like yours. I checked to see if they had the same markers and they were from different dies. So they are fairly common from over used dies. The term "Poor Mans'" Is appropriate as if you bought a bunch of these, you would still be poor. LOL
On the 1953-D I'm not sure what the variety it is? I see in your images pictures of die marks, but what is the coin? Doubled die? RPM?

The others got to the answer on the 1955, and they are correct. The "poor man's" double is a very common occurrence not only on 1955 cents, but on 1946, 1948, 1949, 1953, and 1954 as well. The only reason the 1955 goes so noticed is because back in 1955 when the doubled dies were first reported, people brought these into the coin shops hoping to cash in. It became dubbed the "poor man's double die" (even though it isn't a doubled die at all) after coin shops and magazine ads started running these minor errors for a few bucks each. I have hundreds of them and will probably have a giveaway sometime soon for site visitors.
