I have a 1986 "Ellis Island" Commorative dollar in hand. I also had a "Seated Liberty" dollar, 1844. The Seated Liberty is available. I'll try to get the twl coins and photograph them for posting They were given to pay for food at the Rialto Unified School District cafeteria, yesterday. Both are CuNi, and are magnetic, where the genuine article(s) re silver. The Ellis Island is a sand cast, dated 1986-P, and appears to be the right dia, but the weight is only 19 grams, which is well below the 26.73rams of the genuine dollar.

Well, the metal isn't right, the weight isn't right, and the coin looks horrible. I cannot imagine that this is a counterfeit made by the skilled Chinese companies that continue to get better at the craft. This has to be some beginner's 'tryout'.
