I decide if this is one, or which one. I do see a split serif on the bottom, and possibly the top, as well.
Have a look.

I tried to edit this post, but no luck. I meant to indicate whether it is the 1955D-1MM-009, or the 016.. Sure wish all my wheats were in this condition! I'd be in "pig-heaven"!

Nice looking cent.
The position's different than 1MM-009 and 1MM-016.
I can't match it to any of the 55-D RPMs.
Not sure what it is.

Ed, I know what you mean. That is why I want so badly to learn the overlay procedure. Then I can be more precise. If I could "pin-point" my vision, It would be much easier, as well. Then i wouldn't have to depend on others to make my ID's. LOL! Can't have it all, I guess. I'm lucky to have what is still there!

Hi Dick,
I know what you mean An overlay would be nice, I'm sure you can do it.
LOL... you know my methods. I always use the simplest tool in the shed. I use a card, first I put it on the screen aligned verticaly with the left corner of the 5 and on your photo I see the D is intersected by the card. Then on the 1D0-009 and 1DO-016 and the MMs are further west of the card. That ruled out those varieties.
If it did line up I would have used my card horizontaly on the base of the date and see if the MM was higher or lower but I didn't get to that step since the first step had already ruled them out.

Ed, that is what I do, but using an artists grid. I did all the 1960-D's that way, and listed them by position/groups. East, West, North, south, and by how much, using fractions. As you say, use the simplest tool, or the easiest way, to solve a problem! "Man after my own heart"!

Often overlays can answer questions of closeness, but for the basic attribution job they are too much trouble. Overlays take a minimum of ten minuts if done correctly, and can still leave questions. Ed's method above is just fine, and can replace overlays in most cases.
