This coin looks exactly like the 1961D-1MM-001 pictured here on coppercoins, but definetly does not have the markers? I looked through all the examples shown & could not find one even remotely the same? Any suggestions, Thanks all:)

I don't know, it does look like a 1961D-1MM-001 to me. The markers don't match at all, huh? Perhaps an earlier die state? Or a new listing? Let's see what the pros say. Whatever, it's a nice find.

Teri: An overlay put the spread & location exactly the same. So they are from the same die. Markers com and go, but the mint mark location remains the same.

Teri, I checked, too, and the only one even close is the -047, and it does not have the small remnant of the horizontal "d" inside the MM loop. It has to be the -001, as cCoop says. Nice find!

Thanks guys for clearing that up! This is my first M/M variety find.......Kinda obvious one to find! Are these kind triple & sideways a unique find? Does anyone know off the top of their head of any years that have sideways' M/M? Also do you think the pricelines listed here are pretty accurate? Thanks again! Maybe this will be a new beginning for me.....(no more Md's!)

This is without question 1961D-1MM-001. The marker difference could easily be because of die age. Yours is simply a different age than the only one photographed for the site. I will have to see what I can do over time to make the photos more extensive and clearer for identification of this die, but rest assured that this is the only known die for 1961D that exhibits this type and strength of spread...basically, it's unmistakable as anything else.

I wouldn't. The prices to have it slabbed would exceed the value of the coin. A buyer would probably buy it from images. Having the coin graded will not increase the value. I would grade high dollar coins that the value fluctuates so highly between higher grades. I have a 1950-D Half that someday I would like to have it graded. The prices run MS-60=25.00 MS-63=35.00 MS-65=$400.00. Just seem too much of a jump. So I may have it graded to make sure it is the right price when I sell it.
