It's a bit more defined in hand but the pics give a good indication of the lower curve of the S mintmark. What's everyone's opinion?
thanks
Rock

I would also say that there are no real markers other than the reverse showing die wear in the lower center area. It definately doesn't show the markers for the coneca rpm-001, but that is a EDS and this might be a later die stage.
thats assuming this is an RPM.

Not sure if it's an RPM or not but it's a nice 24-S Smile

That's pretty interesting Rock. Normally, I would say die deterioration, but I don't see the same thing on the date. Could you take a close-up pic of the date and mintmark area together for me??

here Bob. I hope it's magnified enough for you to see, otherwise I'll get a shot of it under the scope tomorrow.
Thanks for your help,
Rock

As I stated in the LCR, I think you have 1924S RPM-001 there Rock. Everything I researched on it leads me to believe that is the case. Congratulations!

Another thing is that the missing letters in the center reverse of the coin is not due to die wear. That's from a weak strike.

Now He tells me! I always thought that was from polishing! Learn something new, every now and then! thanks, Chuck for making that clear.

Well, sometimes it is from polishing. If it's removed from beneath, it's polishing. If it's weak from the top down, it's a weak strike. The symptoms are the key.

Chuck, thanks again for the explanation. I'll have to take a closer look at the general view, and compare that way. Maybe i'll be able to see the difference.
