I had several wheat teens that I examined last night. My goal was to search for any type of variety or interesting anomoly, then to pull out 2 of each date and mint mark for my books. I was looking for EF40-45 which was darn well impossible for many. Most of them were way too worn or mushy or had some kind of distraction on them. I also pulled out a handful that I couldn't even read the dates on. I still think I did alright. No varieties which was not surprising. I had a ton of 1917's but no luck on the DDO. I got 2 1909's and 1 1909VDB which was in better shape than most of the other coins. The few I pulled for my books are bathing in mineral oil right now. Tonight I will start on the 20's. Hoping to break the ice on these and pull a couple of varieties.

Especially the '36, with a peg-leg "R".

I remember in my sorting seeing a 36 with the peg of the leg gone. This must have been made on the die's last leg...so to speak.

The hub with the broken R made the peg leg ones is the same hub that made the 3 big 1936 DDOs.

On some coins they did one hubbing using the broken hub then did a second hubbing with a non broken hub which is why some doubled die 1936 cents have the broken R on one of the hubbings but not on the other hubbing.

The non doubled die with the broken R:

The doubled die 2 with the non broken R over the broken R:

Interesting about the R. I plan on spending some quality time on those 36's. Any other tips on PUPs for the wheats?
