More then likely this reverse is perfectly normal, but of the 1980's I have looked at it just looks like it might be something to my unexperienced eyes.

The first photo is what I normally see on the 1980P's I have been finding, the second photo is the one I am wondering about. What I am looking at is column 7 from about the middle to the top into bay 6

Thanks
Dave

David: It looks like machine doubling (flat shelf like) but only affecting one column? It could be damage from another coin. But the size of the column looks normal, just with a little damage to it to me.

It doesn't look like the bars, that I have seen, so I have to go along with Coop, in that it most likely is damage.
