Rock, what do you use for your photos, and the magnification? I use a Canon Powershot, On AUTO", , and thru the microscope. My pictures lack the clarity, that yours have. (Could be partly due to my vision). The amount of mag. also is more than I have been able to get thru the scope. I do not use the Optical power of the camera, (yet), to see if that would help. Hi Dick,
I use an AM binocular Scope with variable magnification, a Nikon Coolpix 7600 camera on a tripod and I use a 10 sec timer. I make sure my camera is set to macro and the white balance is measured and set prior to taking pictures.
It takes me a while to get everything just so before I start clicking away. I check and recheck over and over which is why you probably don't too many of my pictures posted.
The color is never quite good enough and that's due to lighting issues. I use bendable haolgen desk lamps for lighting but would prefer to have fiber optics. One day I will.
Finally, I take several pics with the coin in different rotated positions, different lighting angles and at different magnifications and sort out the wheat from the weeds. I'm better now. I'll only take 4 or 5 pics to get a couple of good ones.

Rock, thanks for the info. I am STILL trying to come up with a suitable sett-up for coin photography, but it just hasn't come into focus, yet. The onlty complaint with the Camnon is that the display only l;asts for a very short time, and I have to set it again. My other camera, stayed on, for as long as I wanted, or needed it, and it also has remote shutter control. This is "supposed" to have it in the software, but I haven't found it. I have tried some of SuperDaves suggestions, andhave had better results, but I still want a picture like some I have seen! Kurt posts some beauties! There are others, as well. The only thing is that I will keep working on it until I am satisfied with the pictures!
