I guessing there is machine doubling on OBV or REV of this coin. Looks like die movement affected that area?

I agree, Coop, but Also suspect that if there is doubling on the REV, and the anvil die happens to be a bit loose, it may show some movement, as well Opinions?

What am I missing here. There are no reverse pictures, no machine doubling, just a hit on the ear.

It might just be a hit like you said, that mark does look pretty straight.
Sometimes if a die is loose it can snag on the ear and make a mark similar to that. When a die is loose it's like a bobble-head hammer so it might hit then bounce and snag. If that's the case then it might show on both sides.
